My Life Goals and Objectives : What gets me excited each day: to learn, seek new challenges and sows seeds of change. Through educating and journeying with young people, I hope to see them rise above their circumstances and limitations, discovering one’s own individuality and when they do, inspire the next person beside them to do the same.

Short Bio : Charis graduated from the University at Buffalo (New York, United States) with a Bachelor (Hons) in Psychology. She is now working with Care Corner Singapore Ltd as a Social Work Executive with the Youth Services. She has been an active learner and contributor in the work with children and youths. Having the desire to understand children, Charis began working as a Special Needs Education Coach in 2016 for 1.5 years. Through developing individualised programmes, Charis guided her students of diverse learning needs to develop positive communication skills and build resilience. Charis was drawn to the mental health needs of youths and worked as a School Counsellor in 2017 for 3 years. With the principle that every individual possesses inner strengths to be discovered, Charis helped youths remake meaning of the past, rule over emotional triggers and gain awareness of their choices. In wanting to bridge the gap between youths dreaming of a better self and becoming that better self, Charis has since began working with youths as a Social Work Executive in 2021. Using an insights-oriented approach, Charis empowered unmotivated students and youths offenders— some facing mental health and family issue — to exercise informed decisions and brave through obstacles hindering growth. At the heart of her work, it is little about fixing problems, more about inspiring individuals to learn about themselves and inviting them to take ownership of their personal growth and dreams.
