Short Bio : With 36 years in the petroleum and chemicals industry in Mobil, BP and Lubrizol, Bernard focused on Asia Pacific and was based in China for 19 years from 1999 to July 2018. Currently, Bernard is Chair/CEO Coach for Vistage Asia Connect, private advisory boards for CEOs, executives and business owners. He is also an executive coach with Marshall Goldsmith Coaching. Bernard is also senior advisor/operating director for Hafnium Hafaway, a PE investment & advisory. He is the Chairman of Fermatics, an A*Star and Hafnium co-venture to develop active ingredients for cosmetics & life science sector. Prior to that, Bernard was Asia Pacific head for The Lubrizol Corporation, a US specialty chemicals company and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. He led Lubrizol Advanced Materials from 2008; in 2015, his responsibilities expanded to include Lubrizol Additives. He also served as a board member in a Japanese CPVC joint venture with Sekisui. Bernard retired from Lubrizol in July 2018. In 2000, Bernard was general manager for China BP-Castrol Lubricants where he successfully turned around the business. In end 2002, he moved to form and was the first general manager for BP-Sinopec retail joint venture in Zhejiang province till March 2007 when he rejoined Lubrizol. He also served as a board member in this joint venture. Bernard earned his Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Strathclyde, UK in 1981. In 2014, he gained his executive MBA from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
