Synopsis

“It’s NOT ok to talk about your accomplishments”.

“You don’t need to talk about your accomplishments, just work hard. People/your manager should know”.

“You are not the type of person to self-promote anyway”.

Sounds familiar? Are these your exact thoughts?

Challenge the perception around self-promotion. Drop the impostor syndrome or unconscious bias!

#IamRemarkable is an initiative by Google aimed at empowering women and underrepresented groups to speak about their accomplishments in the workplace and beyond.

As the only female within the management team in her previous company, as a minority both being female and as an Asian living in the Netherlands, Alice experienced first-hand how self-promotion at workplace and beyond is so important

During this workshop, she will share and work with you to have the confidence and competence to effectively self-promote your accomplishments.

For those who do not face the self-promotion challenge, you can still benefit from this workshop by being made aware of how other females and marginalised individuals/groups feel. You can bring this knowledge back to your workplace and beyond to lend voice and volume to those less well-represented. This is extremely useful should you be a people-manager.

YOUR SPEAKER: ALICE HO

Odoo • Image and Text

Alice Ho has over 2 decades of experience in the Customer Service domain. Organizations Alice has worked for include P&G, LVMH, Xilinx (now AMD), Siemens Medical and Elsevier.

Among the various global projects that Alice lead and one that she really did not enjoy was making people redundant which become her main task. Through time, Alice realized that one thing that always makes her happy is the ability to help others through her mentoring.

A Singaporean residing in the Netherlands, she is still strongly connected to Asia. For instance, she is currently a mentor to a final year student from NUS, as well as a mentor with WEDU under the US-Asean leadership program for future female change makers in the human rights sector.

A founder of the Netherlands Professional Asian women’s network, she aims to pull fellow Asian women in the Dutch lowlands to come together to network and support one another.

Alice is also involved in local community projects through organising storytelling workshops and being a storyteller herself. She believes that stories connect people and uses it to connect the underrepresented groups with the Dutch communities.
