AIM Highlights
January 2019

After months of planning and preparation work, we officially launched the Asia Institute of Mentoring (AIM) on January 11, in partnership with SGInnovate at BASH Blk 79!

It was truly a milestone evening as we hosted nearly 200 guests and VIPs. The entire BASH venue was lit up with buzz and excitement – the promise of mentoring has finally arrived in Asia. For those of you who were there, we thank you once again as your presence really made the evening special for all involved.

We kicked off the event with the unveiling of AIM as a nonprofit social venture with an ambition to bring the culture of mentoring to every corner of the society. This was followed by a very lively panel discussion: Positively Shaping the Future of Asia through Mentoring.

The very idea of AIM first came about barely seven months ago, when the founders of AIM sat down over a cup of coffee to share experiences and ideas on mentoring, and came to the realization that although there’s so much happening – mostly informally – in the mentoring space, there’s been little discussions on quality and standards. Seven months henceforth, AIM was formally launched to bring mentoring to the fore, to help address many of the social, workplace and economic issues of our time. Raising of a community of qualified mentors would allow the impact to be scaled quickly to see a positive outcome. With a proven structured mentoring training & development program, certification, tailored electives for improved mentoring outcomes, a proprietary talent matching system, a strong support system, and a holistic approach that addresses the Heart, Mind, Spirit with Self-Awareness & Self-Mastery as the foundation for mentoring, AIM has something unique and special to offer to Asia and the world.

The AIM logo, a 7-Leaf green-colored lotus flower, speaks deeply and profoundly of our approach that is grounded in the synthesis of Eastern and Western ideals, values, wisdom and philosophy:

  • The color green symbolises growth; the lotus itself is a symbol of awakening, rebirth, transformation;
  • The 7 leaves of the lotus represent 7 social networks, the 7 chakras of the human energetic system, and AIM’s 7 core values of Authenticity, Integrity, Continuous Learning, Inspiring Others, Trust, Compassion and Wisdom;
  • 7 is also a Sacred / Perfect number: God created the world in 7 days; Buddhist transmigration of the soul happens every 7 days after one’s passing on from the physical realm; in the Chinese wisdom tradition, 7 bridges the visible with the invisible, material with spiritual; 7 is also auspicious for both the Hindu and the Muslim traditions as well.

At AIM, we’re on a sacred mission of growing people through mentoring, taking a balanced approach of East + West, feminine & masculine, yin & yang, “we” not just “me”, the collective not just individual, spiritual & material, longer-term nurturing for growth vs. short-term achievement orientation. Our mission is to create a Asia-based people-powered mentoring movement to move people … to learn, to share, to believe, to give forward, to transform, to harness the deep human potential, and create social impact – bringing about a kinder, gentler, more inclusive, more just and sustainable world for all.

You can join us as a member in this movement by registering here. We continue to seek partners and sponsors who believe in this mission to come onboard this journey to co-create a kinder, gentler, more inclusive, more just and sustainable world.
