Short Bio : Having a childhood in one of the last few kampungs in Singapore, Kian Beng values simplicity in his life. Kindness and gratitude are the values that have been guiding him and eventually leads him to devote a huge part of his time to serve others. A volunteer at heart, Kian Beng has been volunteering in various areas for the past 20 years; mentoring disadvantaged youths, seniors, sharing photography with special needs individuals, facilitating conversations, and more recently on food loss issues. His volunteering journey has also brought him to several developing countries such as Myanmar, The Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Nepal. Kian Beng believes that having authentic conversations in our daily lives is important in the forging of meaningful relationships, both with others and more importantly with our inner-self. A firm believer of conscious reflection, he has since gone into motivating others around him to explore into various triggering modes of service cum learning. In the social sector, Kian Beng has been an passionate and active volunteer for more than 15 years and conducted numerous trainings for volunteers. His experience includes facilitation of group discussions & conversations and designing of training materials for volunteers. After more than 10 years of career in SCDF, he has just started his entrepreneurial journey with a new humble cafe and a social enterprise working on food loss issues.
