Synopsis

In this Leadership Series on Navigating Leadership in the Age of Accountability, Dr. David Ng, Partner, Authentic Solutions LLP, and Sharon Tan, Head of Asia Pacific at the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC), will explore the evolving demands placed on leaders operating at the intersection of capital markets, organisational governance, and multi-stakeholder accountability. The session will be facilitated by Yen-Lu Chow, Founding Executive Chairman of WholeTree Foundation, Over-The-Rainbow, and the Asia Institute of Mentoring.

What does it mean to lead when the scorecard is no longer purely financial?

The conventions of shareholder primacy and short-cycle performance metrics — long the dominant leadership paradigm — are being challenged by an expanding accountability architecture: ESG disclosure obligations, workforce expectations of authenticity, community demands for genuine corporate citizenship, and capital markets beginning to price governance quality differently.

The concept of TRUST lies at the foundation of every leadership relationship — between executive and board, organisation and investor, leader and team, institution and society. Yet the leadership profiles most organisations select and reward are frequently misaligned with the trust-building behaviours that sustained stakeholder relationships actually require.

The question is: can leaders make the shift — from transactional accountability to transformational stewardship — before the cost of the trust deficit becomes impossible to ignore
